I lost my girlfriend to Jesus Christ

It’s all over – Nothing to do or say
Gone is my job of making her happy
Getting back together – is there a way?
Could think about it but it might kill me
A million miles away is her face
Going ahead with her wonderful life
And, for me there’s no longer a place
And that thought alone cuts deep like a knife
Could say something but I don’t feel like it
Just hope she feels warm in her sleep tonight
I thought this one would work – and be legit
But yet again, the dream has taken flight
There’s nothing to do: I’ve done all I can
And thus I’ve lost out to a better man

Whispers

A door many have already stepped through
What happened to them one can’t comprehend
Don’t think if this is the right thing to do
Just come on in and meet your new best friend
Words are uttered in an English broken
Don’t care ‘bout your name or where you’ve come from
Not the first time these words have been spoken
Just don’t leave until the pain is all gone
Life ceases to exist. Fingers touch ice
A heart is stripped of all its emotion
With movements automated and precise
Just sit right back and go through the motion

Suddenly not feeling at all too well
So shut your mouth and fall under the spell

The Author

In the beginning there was an idea
It cut through the darkness with a beacon
It found its voice and it began speakin’
Words tumbled out with a purpose so clear
Words that could not be destroyed or halted
Words that formed into that which must be told
To form more ideas – more precious than gold
And once they knew how to walk, they bolted
Life was created with a waving hand
Universes were born with just one thought
Characters came and their voices they sought
And they walked on to forge legends so grand

And as long as there are words to apply
Ideas will never stop, falter or die

Limping to the Finish Line

Legs have been crippled. Bones have broken.
Constant hard work has left the hands tortured
Dry throat has no words left to be spoken
But the feet stagger in one way: Forward
I do this with the best I can muster
I give every last drop of blood and sweat
Some might say these words are all bluster
But nothing will break from the path that’s set
Some won’t like it but I’m beyond caring
Every last bit of effort I commit
Let them say all the words they’re declaring
This is my best, pal – like it or lump it

I don’t really care about victory
Because I claiming this triumph for me

Can’t spell confidence without the con

Well it’s happened yet again: Disaster
Yet another plan’s blown up in my face
My dreams have fallen, I’m left in disgrace
With but the remains of a non-starter
I really thought this one would work this time
What was I thinking? I must’ve been a fool
Asking for a break? What a laugh! Life’s cruel
You know, it’s funny how high hopes can climb
Who was I kidding? It was a dumb plan
What a chump I was to think I could win
It was only me I was deluding
How foolish it was to think that: ‘I can’

And so with my high hopes forever gone
I head back to the slime where I belong

All For You

I will come for you in the midnight hour
I will come to lead you into the night
I’ll lead you to a field bathed in moonlight
And let the seeds of love burst into flower
Up towards the heavens we cast our gaze
To see the stars painted across the sky
You feel my heartbeat and I hear you sigh
Both imprisoned in a romantic maze
Alone with each other: Two hearts smoulder
The world has stopped just for us it would seem
Close your eyes my darling and claim a dream
Your hand on mine, your head on my shoulder
There may as well be none else in this world
Take my hands in yours – watch this love unfurl

The Siren

Hearing timbers creak from a ruined ship
Flat on my back looking up at the stars
Cast adrift with nothing left within grip
Nursing a heart cut with a hundred scars
She sits on a rock in the pale moonlight
She said sweetly she was waiting for me
Across many dreams and many a night
I, no one else, was her one and only
I tried my best – I did – to cross the rift
But destiny decided where I stay
Did she notice when I was cast adrift?
When she’s never to be touched who can say?

Her song will go on for eternity
As she continues on waiting for me
