Now that you're in love

So you’re in a relationship. Well done
Through being yourself you’ve scored a love true
You faced the challenge. Beat the odds. You’ve won

So then: Now what you are going to do?
Will you embrace this truth you’ve found, so clear?
Will you be reborn into something new?

Will you both walk, hand in hand, without fear?
Will you both be yourselves without disguise?
Will you talk up the luck that brought you here?

Will you tell everyone about the highs?
The excitement of a heart in backflips?
Will you face a score of envious eyes?

Will you support other relationships
Straight. Gay. Anyone devoid of trouble?
Will you get to decide who can touch lips?

Will you take your love into a bubble?
And leave everyone else outside, forbid?
Will you revel in being free from struggle?

Will you, to get here, forget what you did?
The pains of loneliness; will you sever?
Keep the secrets to your success well hid?

Will you declare that this love's forever?
Never give single life a backwards glance?
Maintain that you have your shit together?

Will you mock those who struggle in romance?
Who have confidence, social skills lacking?
Like all those times you were denied a chance?

Do your single friends now seem amusing?
What will you do when they ask for advice?
Does being condescending sound tempting?

Will you tell them that they’ll find someone nice?
Will you forget the times when you couldn’t?
Will you find any bullshit will suffice?

Embrace these cruelties? You know you shouldn’t
But of course you will. Because who wouldn’t?

How to win an argument

Want to know how to win an argument?
Just convince the other guy of your view
Oh and be ready to take on facts new
Forget attacking: It won't make a dent

Listen: Don't interrupt the other guy
You need to follow standards much higher
Don't mislead. Scrap that winning desire
You're there to understand. Not to reply

You must invite your foe onto your side
And you must forgive their past transgression
Ditch humiliation and aggression
For in the end you've got nothing to hide

So then: Now that these truths have come to light
I ask you: Do you still want to be right?

Emi

Take my hand- we will go walk this city
Discussing the fine art of crafting words
Constructing rhyming schemes working in thirds
All melded together in honesty
 Merging snarky humour with metaphor
Breaking in structure with a force restless
Two torrents with many things to express
A pair of weavers of words by the score
Viewing the world with a curious eye
Walking down a route neither one was prepared
However there’s no reason to be scared
Leading each other to summits so high
The enclosing walls; time to move beyond
To paths forged out of a creative bond

Revolution

So, you want to start a revolution?
Do you want to stand up and have your say?
Want to give answers but no solution?

You want a change to come without delay?
Does explaining make you feel like a tool?
You want conversations that go one way?

Want to challenge the incompetent’s rule?
Think the masses are under the wrong crown?
Does guilt and social pressure sound useful?

Tired of being greeted with a frown?
You want to back those fighting the good fights?
Want to use any pretense to take down?

Want to declare who receives equal rights?
Want the bad guys take account for their sins?
Got revisionist history in sights?

Want bring down your tyrannical kings?
Drag them straight to the depths of the Nine Hells?
Want to decide who loses and who wins?

Want the timid to come out of their shells?
Tell them their voice matters and they’re a gem?
Sick of being happy for someone else?

You got a cause no one would dare condemn?
You, for said cause, prepared to travel far?
You want someone else to be the problem?

Will you face down every critic bizarre?
You have many comebacks primed and ready?
Want to decide who the outsiders are?

Do you have any plans post-victory?
Why give such a possibility thought?
For what’s a fighter with no enemy?

The Fine Art of Exclusion (Redux)

The power to exclude: The sweetest thing

An intoxication few can refuse

It divides the lies from which truth to use

Decides who will lose and who’ll be winning

The power to exclude: It writes the rules

Heaven help you if you’re on the wrong side

It welcomes the down-trodden with arms wide

Promotes inclusion just not with the fools

The power to exclude: Puts me in charge

Decides who will speak and who to ignore

Saves me from the scum. Make me something more

Makes me drown out anyone, small or large

The power to exclude. You know it’s true

And if you held it you’d do the same too

The Fine Art of Exclusion

I will tell you how things work in this life

What needs to be said. What we need to do

I’m for inclusiveness when it’s not with you

And I bet this knowledge cuts like a knife

The crowd I lead is the one that’s correct

Heaven help you if you’re on the wrong side

I’ll welcome the down-trodden with arms wide

Disagree with me, if once, and you’re wrecked

I have time for them but you? I ignore

I don't care about what's holding you back

Your weakness is showing so I attack

You just keep on being you. Close the door

This is my truth and this is what I do

And admit it: you would do the same too

Untitled (II)

See the one face you have seen every day

Run errands because they won’t leave the house

Hear many stories ‘bout their ex, the louse

Have fights that end with them getting their way

Lending money, no return when it’s due

Being powerless when they throw a fit

Do things through being made to feel like shit

Demands to know where you go, what you do

Have friends concerned for you left on the shelves

Be forbid from seeing your family

Be told, yet again, that “You complete me”

Only staying so they don't hurt themselves

Face a truth too ingrained to break this curse

The truth that loneliness is so much worse

Unhappily Ever After

Stuck in single life. A wretched prison
My latest attempt to run has too blown
But I’m sick of wondering what I’m missing
It’s time to embrace what I’ve always known
So no more will I engage in the chase
No more will I miss out on something grand
No more will I try so hard to save face
No more will I hope for a lucky hand
No more being seen as some kind of threat
No more experiences to be shared
No more need for human touch left unmet
No more declarations that I’m not scared

Thus I embrace the single life: Rejoice
After all, it’s not like I have a choice

Coercion

I could help you with your dud social skills

But I‘d rather laugh at your lack of sex

I could understand your feelings complex

But the frail make for such easy kills

I could understand all your social needs

But I’d rather shame you for being you

I could ask for cooperation true

But I’d just demand it. See where that leads

I could find your help to be effective

But I'd rather embrace suspicion strong

I could tell you how what you did was wrong

But I’d rather you remain defective

It’s coercion by ridicule of course

So much better than coercion by force

Critical Thinking

I’m here to tell you of thinking critical
I can tell ignorance won’t work for you
Tear down the walls of fiction for what’s true
Open your mind, see analytical
It’s time to do away with tradition
Charlatans and frauds are to be exposed
Ask yourself what isn’t being disclosed
And listen to the voice of suspicion
Reason and logic: Your friends in attack
Let the words of proof and clarity grow
Do not heed the words of the status quo
After all, they’re only holding you back

So stand up: Challenge everything you see
Just as long as it doesn’t include me
