Within the eyes love unconditional
A face that doesn’t deserve any harm
The hardest heart, a nature to disarm
A motivation unquestionable
A friend who will never leave you alone
Who will love you more than you love yourself
Greater than you’ll know; Providing a wealth
From day of birth it’s all it’s ever known
True definition of friend to the end
No matter where you go; will walk with you
And will go with everything that you do
You; and much very prepared to defend
Still your best friend when no one else will be
For it’s not a complete jerk that they see

You Won't be On Your Own
Ever found a friend who makes you happy
Who wants to help you through when you are down?
Who’ll save you from despair so you won’t drown?
Who makes any thoughts of loneliness flee?
Ever found a friend who’ll stick up for you?
Who doesn’t care whether you’re wrong or right
Who will assist you in the hardest fight
Even when the end of the world looms true
Ever found a friend who’s walked through hell too?
One who will never ever walk away
Regardless of the things you do or say
Ever found a friend who’s a lot like you?
I have. I’ve a friendship as strong as steel
One that’s tenacious, genuine and real

My Parents
I help my mother with the week’s shopping
It’s from me that she knows what we all need
I get out the food she needs for shopping
Whilst she drives me around at top speed
When I tell a joke she thinks it’s funny
And she encourages all my writing
My father and I like to watch TV
We find the action movies just the thing
I help in his acts of home improvement
And he teaches me all about driving
We both go up mountains of steep ascent
And spend the weekends going kayaking
No, I don’t hate my parents – like I should
Because one day they’ll both be gone for good

Dear Friend
Debating which anime girls we like
Talking lots about Final Fantasy
Prattling on fun stuff endlessly
Exchanging words understood by our psyche
Urging the other in the written word
Seeing only where the other brightly shines
Supporting each other in troubled times
Sharing loud laughter at all things absurd
Encouraging the other in romance
Providing whatever help when in need
Believing that the other can succeed
Who cares if this was a product of chance?
Caring naught for any differences
For strength in friendship commands the senses

Songbird
The songbird sings the loveliest of tunes
With a voice confident, knowing and fine
Proclaiming the most delicate of lines
Made up with words to make anyone swoon
The songbird listens to all that I say
She listens to each word attentively
She always seeks new words to come from me
Whether they be white, black or shades of grey
The songbird keeps saying I could do better
She tells me to do so with honest eyes
And to such a challenge I gladly rise
Some friendly competition? I’ll let her
So I write words for the songbird to read
It’s her world that requires such a need

Lucy
It was the worse day I had ever had
On the brink of dispair I did tetter
She didn't want to see me looking sad
She saw me careering to disaster
She wanted to make everything better
And upon my cheek, she gave me a lick
And would you believe it, it did the trick

Wolf and Cub
There’s nothing wrong with my boy, you hear me?
I don’t appreciate the things you say
My teeth are bared as you can plainly see
So you’d be best getting out of our way
You’re not laying a finger on my boy
He’s my flesh and blood. To which I will dote
Yes, be it known that he’s my pride and joy
Mess with him and I’ll rip out your throat
He may be blind but one day he will dare
He may be helpless but he’s far from mild
He may be lame but he swipes like bear
And all that matters is he’s my child
I won’t let you within a foot of him
This is our world where you don’t belong in

My sister in law
You will marry my brother? Is this true?
It’s hard to grasp the words that have been said
Thus I didn't know what to make of you
Cos’ your arrival was unexpected
It only took a nice word to be said
Hidden heart of gold, you managed to pry
And in time, I grew to like you instead
I have no reason to hate you or lie
I haven’t done this role before but I’ll try
You like cartoons and chocolate ice-cream too
I’ll say you have the sharpest shopping eye
Thus this newly formed bond between us grew
And now, you're more than worthy of my trust
Because in the end you're now one of us
Completed 27th December 2004

O Holy Night
O Holy night, Twenty-fourth of December
The local church is ringing out the last bell
It’s the birth night of our lord and saviour
In a time of peace and love all is well
Lazing back in the couch with beer in hand
As this little town lights up behind me
Together with all the rest of the clan
Curtains open, feet up, watching TV
We’re all here for the holiday season
Recalling each and every song we know
We don’t fight, argue or call out treason
We’re just watching the bond of family grow
All watching the carols by candlelight
And all together for the holy night

Going home
Stumbling home on a Saturday night
Car lights flash and roar past our awkward feet
Finding our own way down this empty street
In a darkened world bathed in orange light
Smelling of beer, leaning on the other
We both know this song! Its words we’ll shout out!
Can’t recall what we were fighting about
As we walk, hand on each other’s shoulder
We won’t stop moving. Even if we could
We don’t care how much noise we make out here
Or whether we will make it to next year
Still, life may go on but this life is good
Tomorrow brings changes but we won’t see
Because on this journey, it’s you and me

Meine Mutter
When I was sick you helped me get better
When I was weak you urged me to strive
When I needed a shoulder you were there
And, above all else, you kept me alive
Whilst teaching the skills needed to survive
And you should know from the man who's your son
No one could do the job that you have done

Always with me
As I walk down this road to a new day
Memories of you still linger within
And because I know I’ve the strength to win
So I hope to see you along the way
I carry all those happy times with me
Of the times when we laughed and when we argue
The times when we talked and when we felt blue
The times when you saw that which I could see
But now I know there is nothing left to fear
Because your friendship has given me hope
This cold world may be harsh but I can cope
Because the memories are always near
Until the day we meet again I’ll keep moving
And thanks to you, I’m no longer losing

Birthday
You were my strength when I was at my weakest
You urged me to rise from the pit of disgrace
You brought light when life was at its weakest
But I have never really seen your face
You listened when no one else wanted to
You thought my strengths were greater than my flaws
I said “Queen Rock!” You laughed and said: “How true”
You laughed at all my Kenshin metaphors
And now, a year’s passed since it all began
So I will now raise my glass in a toast
To the other side of that ocean span
To the Floridian I like the most
You’re my best friend – That I’m proud to say
And I hope you have a Happy Birthday

Journeys of Transition
My brother is but a plane trip away
My sister’s now got a place of her own
I can talk to them when they’re on the phone
But no longer do I see them each day
Years ago it was all a different way
We would argue, take sides, bicker and fight
We would refuse to share and forget birthdays
And we’d deny the bond that held us tight
But now, with my siblings gone, it’s different
Conversations last longer than before
We’ve even stopped hating our parents
And we support each other more and more
Absence doesn’t just make the heart grow fonder
It makes the bond of family stronger

A tribute to a Best Friend
When you’re sad, I’ll take you to get you drunk
And I’ll help kill the guy you find vexing
When you’re worried, I’ll say “Stop whining!”
Because we’re on a boat that can’t be sunk
Should you fall over I will laugh at you
If you’re confused, I’ll keep it simple
You may call me an annoying pimple
But I know you’ll help me when I’m blue
And if you need help drinking beer quickly
Or you need someone to watch anime
Or gripe on how women won’t come our way
Know this: You can always rely on me
The future is there before us my friend
Here’s to a strong friendship that never ends

March of the Goths
The day has ended, the sun has fallen
A cloak of dark nightshade is descending
The time has come to emerge from hiding
We now walk on our own feet - no crawling
March into the night now the sun’s gone down
Ranks and ranks of black cloth and white faces bland
Everyone holding a candle in hand
We march to gather on a secret hill
A sacred place where we have fun freely
Where none mock us and ourselves we can be
And into our stomachs sweet wine we’ll spill
We march on our pilgrimage in silence
And a single bell tolls in the distance

Celtic blood
I can pick up a sword ‘cos I can fight
I am eager to explore lands far away
I’m prepared to give my life for what’s right
And I have tales and stories to say
My home is an island of trees and green
Where the bond of kinship keeps running strong
But my true birthplace is one I haven’t seen
However my heritage has not gone
I have walked this earth for so many years
With spirits of my family to guide me
My ancestral strength protects me from fears
From invaders wherever they may be
Though our world is gone, our spirit won’t fall
I have Celtic blood and I’ll heed it’s call

When Stuart met Phillippa
I met her in a most unlikely place
In a world of madness
Insanity
Across the room into her pretty face
In it I saw none but serenity
She was something
had a reputation
I am with someone who is really cool
I made myself into her eye vision
But I ended up being a fool
She was beautiful
She did cleaning work
I showed a lot of appreciation
In her presence I annoyingly lurk
I end up screwing up conversation
She was an amazing person in the end
Here begins the tale of my new friend
