Coercion

I could help you with your dud social skills

But I‘d rather laugh at your lack of sex

I could understand your feelings complex

But the frail make for such easy kills

I could understand all your social needs

But I’d rather shame you for being you

I could ask for cooperation true

But I’d just demand it. See where that leads

I could find your help to be effective

But I'd rather embrace suspicion strong

I could tell you how what you did was wrong

But I’d rather you remain defective

It’s coercion by ridicule of course

So much better than coercion by force

Critical Thinking

I’m here to tell you of thinking critical
I can tell ignorance won’t work for you
Tear down the walls of fiction for what’s true
Open your mind, see analytical
It’s time to do away with tradition
Charlatans and frauds are to be exposed
Ask yourself what isn’t being disclosed
And listen to the voice of suspicion
Reason and logic: Your friends in attack
Let the words of proof and clarity grow
Do not heed the words of the status quo
After all, they’re only holding you back

So stand up: Challenge everything you see
Just as long as it doesn’t include me

Boys Will Be Boys

Look at him: he’s trying to get a wife
He sees the challenge. He’s ready to fight
He doesn’t want to lead a lonely life
Couldn’t get more pathetic, am I right?
He has a job, a car, a money pool
Because he was told to get them – such lies
Does he know desire’s not negotiable?
His pleas for help are met with vague replies
He can’t escape this prison, He’s stuck bad
He’s got to prove himself: no mistaking
He’ll do anything to stop feeling sad
But he’s just a rapist in the making

He’s on a futile quest, his prospects grim
It sure makes me happy that I’m not him

Beyond the Back Fence

There’s another world lying over there
Beyond the tall buildings, suburbs, highways
To tread; A place where only the brave dare
Where everything can vanish in the haze
It’s a place untouched by countless changes
A place where metal can only corrode
A place of scorched rock and mountain ranges
A place where there’s a single one way road
It’s where the sun beats downs relentlessly
As it’s always done for thousands of years
Where there’s sand as far as the eye can see
Waiting to prey on some long-repressed fears

And it will endure: This place of sand and rust
Even when the cities have turned to dust

Dryad

In a winter forest I heard a song
It came resonating through all the trees
A song that could impress, astound and tease
I walked on, the sound guiding me along

The song led me to a thicket small
And a woman the likes I’ve never seen
Her flesh was smooth and coloured pale green
Her eyes blazed, her hair a black waterfall

She moved like her feet never touched the ground
And with her voice dead planets grew into bloom
Flowers emitted the scent of perfume
Of her pure voice, new life grew to the sound

I didn’t speak a word for I felt it wrong
I sat and I listened to the dryad’s song

My Wife is the Written Word

My wife is my most constant companion
To turn away from her would be a crime
My wife worries when I don’t spare the time
She knows I’ve ideas to fill a canyon

My wife is someone worth doing right by
The fact that she’s never left me is proof
My wife is the voice of reason and truth
She’s the one to whom I can never lie

My wife’s the voice that wants me to succeed
She knows when I’m happy, angry or blue
My wife speaks of imagination true
And she’s the only one I’ll ever need

Of a true queen, my wife wears a gold crown
And in return I’ll never let her down

Roaring Twenties

Making real money for the first time
Studying at the university
Turning a passion into a degree
Welcome freedom – to not will be a crime

Meeting up with friends; Jump into the car
Eat pizza, drink beer, watch TV all night
Saving up money for a car that’s right
Go for a driver’s license to go far

Traveling around - so many things to see
Moving out of home into your own place
Finding for the first time a warm embrace
Deciding what you really want to be

Now’s the time: So don’t muck it like a dunce
Because you only get to do it once
